Entering your content into ArtDroid is straightforward, using the native built-in features of WordPress.

ArtDroid is specialized for displaying images, panoramas, galleries, video and audio.

Posts vs. Pages

There are two primary content types built into WordPress, they are Posts and Pages. The primary difference is that Posts are used for content which is generally sorted by date, with the latest posts usually on top, whereas Pages are used for creating hierarchical static content.

Posts are the subscribed format for posting art updates inside ArtDroid, whereas Pages are best used for organizing other sections of your website, such as your contact page, or hyper-organized content.

After installing ArtDroid, just go ahead and make a Post and you’ll see it show up on your front page!

 Types of Posts

With ArtDroid you can post the following types of content:

  1. Single Image – Simply set the image you’re posting as the featured image of the post, and everything else will be handled automatically.
  2. Gallery – Using the native WordPress gallery system, create a gallery, and then set the gallery type in the Options box.
  3. Video/Audio – Just paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, or SoundCloud in the Link URL field, and the media will be featured.

Categories & Tags

Content can be organized using two types of taxonomies namely, Categories and Tags. A single category or tag is called a Term.

Categories can be used for organizing hierarchical terms, such as categories within categories, for instance you could have a Paintings category, and then an Oil Paintings sub-category. Posts will generally fall under one or two categories, though likely not more, so you may want to create a structure for your categories before posting content.

On the other hand, you might apply many Tags to a post, and come up with new tags on the fly, to organize your work more broadly under a number of specific terms, based on the contents of the image, such as ‘cat’, ‘rivers’, ‘autumn’, etc.

Categories and Tags can then be listed quickly and easily with a term list shortcode, giving viewers a broad glimpse at your work, and with one click can explore it.
